Where should I send my sample?

Welcome to Nemlab

Nemlab is a diagnostic laboratory that identifies which nematodes occur in your soil and roots and whether they can be harmful to your current or future crops. Nemlab conducts routine analyses on soil and root samples for different agricultural crops. Please download our FORMS and fill out all the information. The results from these tests are customized to the client’s unique situation. Results are more accurate for samples that are accompanied by completed FORMS that include all necessary information as all the different factors are known and are taken into account when recommendtions are made.

Nematodes are simple roundworms that occur naturally in soil but some species also have the ability to move in and out of the roots. The different types of nematodes that nemlab specializes in include plant-parasitic (regarding crops), free-living (soil-health or Bio-indicator test) and entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN’s) (biological control).

Nemlab supplies advice and training relating to successful solutions to nematode related problems and a nemlab nematologist is readily available to visit sites where nematode infestation requires first hand evaluation. Please CONTACT US for more information.

Nemlab also offers services to companies that need trials done for the registration of new chemical and biological nematicides. These trials can be done in the glasshouse or in the field with the help of a contractor.

As a highly acclaimed laboratory nemlab is registered in terms of the Plant Improvement Act (Act 53 of 1976) with respect to test laboratories. In addition nemlab is authorised to conduct special tests with regard to the golden cyst nematode (Globodera rostochiensis) in terms of the Agricultural Pests Act (Act 36 of 1947) and the dagger nematode (Xiphinema index), the latter being compulsory under the Vine Improvement Scheme.
